City's appreciation dinner set for May 3

The annual city appreciation dinner for its volunteers and those who serve on boards, committees and commissions was approved with an estimated cost of $35,000.

Requested by Mayor Derek Corrigan and approved by council, the May 3 dinner will be held at Edmonds Community Centre this year.

The 2012 Kushiro Cup award for Citizen of the Year is expected to be presented. A call for nominations will be placed through advertisements in the local newspapers, according to the City of Burnaby council report put forth by Corrigan.

Last year's approved cost for the dinner was $30,000.
