Colleen Jordan has lived and worked in Burnaby since 1976.

In her career as a media library technician in the Burnaby School District, Colleen saw first hand the critical role public service workers play in providing quality services and the resulting connection with building healthy and sustainable communities.

Colleen's political activism stems from her service as the full-time secretary-treasurer of CUPE B.C. - a position she held for 14 years until her retirement in 2005 - that helped define her focus on the important role of local governments.

Colleen was first elected to Burnaby city council in 2002 and was re-elected in 2005 and 2008.

When asked her age, Colleen replies, "They say 60 is the new 40, so that makes me 43!"

She added, "I have found my work on council to be very rewarding and would like to continue the progress we have made, especially in the areas of community development and housing opportunities.

"I am looking forward to being a part of implementing Burnaby's new sustainability strategy and hope I am fortunate enough to continue representing the city at the Metro Vancouver table to help shape the growth of our region. I love meeting and talking to residents, and sometimes actually being able to help them in their dealings with city hall."
