The last Friday of 2012 was an eventful one for the Burnaby RCMP.
Police dealt with a multitude of incidents, ranging from a targeted shooting in the Metrotown area to a pair of attempted sexual assaults along Kingsway and the tragic death of a pedestrian near North Road and Lougheed Highway.
The targeted shooting occurred near Maywood Avenue and Telford Street at around 11: 15 p.m. Friday night.
Police believe a man in a car shot at a person in another car, but didn't hit his intended targets. Police believe nobody was injured in the shooting and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
Police also responded Friday night to a pair of attempted sexual assaults that occurred along Kingsway, the first near Waltham Avenue and the second near Dufferin Avenue, which are both located between Gilley and Royal Oak avenues.
The suspect is described as a man in his 30s, 5-8 tall, with glasses and possibly a beard, wearing a white hoodie. He may have been injured when one woman fought back.
On the other side of town, near North Road and Lougheed Highway, a senior in his 60s died when he was hit by a car at around 5 p.m. on Friday.
Police say the man, whose name has not been released, was crossing between intersections and wasn't in a marked crosswalk. He was rushed to Royal Columbian Hospital where he later died.
The driver is cooperating with police.
