Coquitlam firefighters are investigating “a fully involved” house fire after crews responded to a blaze in the early hours of Dec. 17.

Coquitlam Fire and Rescue crews received a call of a house fire on the 1000-block of Ogden Street at around 4:30 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived at the cul-de-sac, they found the burning house vacant and immediately worked to get the fire under control.

“It’s definitely being considered a suspicious fire,” said Coquitlam Fire Chief Jim Ogloff, adding there were no reported injuries.

An investigation later found that the fire had started at “multiple points of origin.”

Coquitlam RCMP have been canvassing the neighbourhood for anyone with information or surveillance footage that could shed light on the investigation, but as of Thursday afternoon, no suspects had been reported in the area.

“All the neighbours said they hadn’t seen tenants for two to four weeks,” said Coquitlam RCMP spokesperson Const. Deanna Law.

Any information regarding the fire can be directed to Coquitlam RCMP’s non-emergency number at 604-945-1550.
