A COVID-19 outbreak at Burnaby Hospital has officially been declared over, according to the province.
The outbreak was originally declared on Feb. 24, 2022. At the time, Fraser Health did not disclose how many cases had been found, units affected or breakdown between staff and patients.
On Feb. 24, the health authority said 11 cases had been discovered after evidence of transmission was found in a medicine unit.
The emergency department remained open and no other areas of the hospital were impacted.
The previous outbreak at the hospital was declared on Jan. 12, 2022, when evidence of transmission had been discovered across three wards including three cases involving patients in a surgical unit, eight patients in an acute care elders unit and two patients in a medicine unit.
The affected units were temporarily closed to admissions.
