Dan Johnston is running for Burnaby city council with the Burnaby Citizens Association:

A Burnaby resident since 1961, Dan Johnston lives with his wife and school-age son in the Lakeview-Mayview neighbourhood.

He was first elected to city council 1993 after serving on Burnaby's parks commission. It was there he developed his longstanding passion for environmental initiatives and began his service to the community with a focus on making Burnaby the green heart of the lower mainland.

A certified general accountant, Dan has succeeded at combining the expertise of his profession and focus on being financially prudent with his ability to "get things done" as a city councillor. His role in strengthening Burnaby's financial position is complimented by his commitment that the City remains financially strong and, as a result, Burnaby has been able to maintain one of the lowest tax rate increases in the area.

Dan is seeking re-election as a Burnaby Citizens Association candidate for city council as he believes there are great opportunities ahead for the City of Burnaby in the areas of financial leadership, the environment and for our youth.

He says, "As the world enters a period of uncertainty, I think I can offer the proven experience to ensure Burnaby's path stays focused and strong. I am committed to looking for ways to make our city more effective in all of these areas, to maintain our leadership role and to continue to build on our many strengths - keeping our city green, enhancing access to services for all citizens as our population grows and its demographic changes, and ensuring we keep taxes low as we fund our services out of reserves while we see those reserves grow for future generations."
