There are numerous traffic disruptions in Burnaby due to ongoing demonstrations.

At 11 a.m. this morning (Nov. 19), Burnaby RCMP said on Twitter due to a demonstration, traffic was being blocked at Canada Way and Kensington, one of the city's busiest intersections.

The tweet said to expect delays and avoid the area if possible.

At 12:15 p.m., another tweet sent by Burnaby RCMP said the Kensington overpass over Highway 1 was also blocked due to the "ongoing demonstration" while asking the public to continue to avoid the area as there are traffic delays.

Some posts on social media say the demonstration involves pipelines.

The NOW has reached out to Burnaby RCMP and the City of Burnaby for more details.
