Building permits in Burnaby are set to increase this year by an average of 2.6 per cent.
Rezoning application fees for the first 1,700 square metres of a site are increasing from $1,678 to $2,500, and for each 100 square metres after that, fees are rising from $45 to $55.
Subdivision fees are also slated to increase, from $1,942 to $2,500.
Air spaces parcel subdivisions will have an entirely different fee structure, to properly address the complexity of handling such applications.
These fees will increase from $6,401 up to $10,000 to $15,000, depending on the floor area ratio.
Council approved the increases at Monday night's council meeting.
Other building and planning fees will also see a slight increase, though some inspection fees and damage deposits are being cancelled. Contact the building and planning department for specific fee information.
