Divina Denuevo has found a new home in Vancouver.

Divina Denuevo has found a new home in Vancouver. Divina Denuevo, which means "Divine Again" in Spanish, upcycles antique hardware and leather from scraps and clothing to create messenger bags, clutches, wallets, laptop bags, keys, cuffs and other items with an out-of-time feel.

Designers Victoria Ronco and Dave Kelly launched the company last fall, creating the pieces in Kelly's kitchen in Burnaby.

The company was featured in a profile in the NOW last October.

The two relocated to a spot on West Seventh Avenue in Vancouver in July, according to an email from Ronco. For more information on the company, go to divinadenuevo.com.

JUMPSTART AT SFU

It is the fifth year for the annual Simon Fraser University Entrepreneur of the Year program, and organizers are kicking off this year with JumpStart - an eight-week accelerator program, according to an email from the external coordinator for SFU Entrepreneur of the Year 2012, Natalia Tsoy.

The program was set up to provide teams with business ideas with the knowledge and skills to bring their concepts to fruition, according to the information included in the email.

JumpStart began on Sept. 15, with five teams taking part in the pilot.

The deadline for the first preliminary round of the SFU Entrepreneur of the Year competition is Oct. 14. Entrepreneurs apply online, describing the idea and providing ownership documentation.

BCIT ON THE JOB

Graytek, a Coquitlam design company, won three awards from the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association at its annual EXPO conference in Indianapolis, Indiana last month. The company employs 13 people, 10 of whom are British Columbia Institute of Technology grads, including founders James and Caroline Gray, according to an email from Katrina Boguski. Boguski is a BCIT alumnus who also works for the company.

The company won gold, silver and bronze in the integrated home category.

ON THE GREEN

Riverway Golf Course was the site of G&F Financial Group's 2012 charity golf tournament and raffle, according to a press release from the group. The event raised $52,000 for The First Tee of Greater Vancouver YMCA, which teaches at-risk youth life skills and values through the game of golf, the release stated.

There were more than 120 participants at the event, which took place on Sept. 10. It was the largest amount ever raised at the group's charity golf tournament, the release stated.
