Elliot Lake Mall store manager gets tattoo in honour of Burnaby's liquidation king

Much in the spirit of wearing his heart on his sleeve, an Elliot Lake, Ont. store manager has tattooed the logo from one of his favourite TV shows on his arm, in honour of Burnaby business owner Jeff Schwarz.

Adam Amyotte, former manager of the Bargain Shop at the Algo Centre Mall and now manager of the Algoma Store, was touched when Schwarz, owner of Direct Liquidation and star of the OLN reality TV show The Liquidator, agreed to appear at the store opening, according to an email from Yvonne Chang, public relations consultant for The Liquidator.

The Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake suffered a partial collapse last summer. Two women were killed in the disaster.

"I am a big fan of the show and the tattoo is a bit of a thank you to Jeff," Amyotte said in an emailed statement. "Jeff graciously came to Elliot Lake for the opening of the Algoma Store. After the mall was destroyed, there was a big retail gap in Elliot Lake and this store was opened to fill that gap. A lot of people in the community were moved by him and his generousity, so I thought the tattoo would be a unique way to show my appreciation."

Amyotte recently traveled to B.C. to meet with Schwarz and show him his ink.

The Algoma Store, a small department store, opened last December in Paris Plaza in Elliot Lake.
