An odd 161 years ago, the Mexican Army defeated the French army at the battle of Puebla on May 5. To commemorate this win, the then-President Benito Juarez declared the day (May 5) as one for national pride and festivities — which we all know now as Cinco De Mayo.
Every year since then, the holiday to celebrate Hispanic communities across North America has been observed with the whole shebang .

Tacosaurus and Olivo Cafe
A new taco truck hit the roads of Burnaby early in March, making rounds in nearby breweries to give the folks a to-remember summer combination. The taco truck, aptly named, Tacosaurus, is a beloved local cafe’s (Olivo Cafe & Eatery) latest venture, and serves an authentic platter of Mexican cuisine on the go. So it is only natural for the taco truck to go all out for Cinco De Mayo. On May 5, they will be making a weekly stop at Studio Brewing from 4 to 9 p.m. and offer a brand new item: Gluten-free Baja Fish Taco.
For the ones not feeling a fish taco, the owners’ Olivo Cafe & Eatery will be offering their famous Birria Ramen for just $10 all day (7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.).
