An alert Burnaby RCMP motorcycle cop is responsible for the arrest of three people in two separate incidents.
On July 6, the police officer pulled over a car for not properly displaying a novice driver's sign. During the traffic stop, the officer detected an odour of marijuana. A search of the car and its occupants resulted in the seizure of 116 fraudulent credit cards, a forged driver's licence, money, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Police are now recommending charges of possession of forged credit cards and possession of a controlled substance against a 22-year-old Vancouver man and possession of a controlled substance against a 21-year-old Vancouver man.
Two days later, the same police officer pulled over a driver for using a cellphone.
The officer once again noticed an odour of marijuana and a search of the car resulted in the seizure of more than $2,200 in cash, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Police are recommending charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking against a 32-year-old Richmond man.
"I'm very proud of the efforts of our front-line personnel," Chief Supt. David Critchley of the Burnaby RCMP said in a press release. "They are constantly working hard to keep our city safe, and they are quite literally the backbone of police work."
Police are not releasing the names of the accused as charges are still pending.
