3 Get green at the Eco-Centre's open house on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at 4855 Still Creek Ave.
Drop by and celebrate Burnaby's new Eco-Centre. Take a tour of the new recycling facility, learn about where materials go and how they're recycled, and enjoy some live entertainment and refreshments. Parking is limited, but it is right on the Central Valley Greenway, so you can walk, cycle or take transit. Please note interim access to the Eco-Centre is via Regent Street, off of Douglas Road.
4 Get running for a good cause at the Burnaby Hospital Foundation's 15th annual Rhythm of Life: The Run and Walk for Everyone on Sunday. The event raises funds for the hospital's most urgent equipment needs. The public is invited to join the foundation on a run or walk through the trails of Burnaby Lake Regional Park. The event is followed by refreshments, live entertainment and family fun activities. Proceeds support the Healthy Heart Program and purchase equipment. For details and to register, visit www.bhfoundation.ca or call 604-431-2881.
5 Get communing at the community barbecue at Cliff Avenue United Church on Sunday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at 1600 Cliff Ave. All are welcome. For more information, call 604-420-2621 or visit www.cliffavechurch.com.
