Fallen tree smashes into car in Burnaby

Gaglardi Way was closed but reopened Wednesday afternoon after crews cleared the scene

No injuries have been reported and Gaglardi Way is now open after a fallen tree smashed into a car on the road leading to Simon Fraser University Wednesday morning.

Burnaby RCMP had closed both lanes on Gaglardi Way and all traffic had been rerouted eastbound onto Lougheed Highway to avoid the tree and the car trapped underneath, according to Cpl. Dave Reid.

As of 12:30 p.m., the roads re-opened after city crews cleaned up the tree and the damage created by its limbs.

The City of Burnaby was not able to comment on the incident before press deadline.
