It'd be hard to pin down the components that make SFU one of the country's most family-friendly employers when there's so many to choose from.
Generous benefit packages, on-site daycares, expanded family-friendly living opportunities, top-ups for maternity and paternity leaves, and significant opportunities for recreation are just a few of the factors that gave SFU a spot in this year's top 20 list, compiled annually by MediaCorp Canada Inc., a publisher of employment guides.
The list, part of the Top 100 Employers awards program, includes just one other B.C. employer - Vancity - for 2011.
The university, which has its main campus in Burnaby, got an A+ rating for physical workplace, health and family-friendly benefits, and training and skills benefits; an A for work atmosphere and communication, financial benefits and compensation, vacation and personal time-off; and a B+ for employee engagement and community involvement.
The university has been on the list for four of the last five years.
