The Fraser River Discovery Centre will host River Basin Days events.

As part of River Basin Days festivities, the Fraser River Discovery Centre will host a celebration of Lunar New Year at Burnaby Lake Regional Park next Saturday, Feb. 10.

Children and parents can learn all about Lunar New Year traditions and explore the history of local East Asian communities.

"Lunar New Year is deeply connected to the seasons and the natural world; for many cultures, it marks the beginning of spring," Karen Lee, executive director of the Discovery Centre, said in a press release.

She said the hour-long event will explore new year traditions and stories.

Event participants will work with Discovery Centre education staff to learn about Lunar New Year and observe the first signs of spring.

River Basin Days is a series of family-friendly outdoor public programs held on the second Saturday of every month at rotating locations around the Fraser River Basin.
