Federal election campaign underway in Burnaby

All but one local candidate declared
23 ridings
Burnaby will be split into three new federal electoral districts, including Burnaby North-Seymour, which combines part of north Burnaby with North Vancouver.

The writ has dropped, the race is on, and Burnaby has all but one candidate left to declare in the 2015 federal election.

The Greens are set to announce a candidate for New Westminster-Burnaby, possibly by the end of this week, completing the local slates for the four major parties.

The Oct. 19 election will be the first for Burnaby’s three new ridings, drawn after the boundaries commission created Burnaby North-Seymour, Burnaby South and New Westminster-Burnaby.

Canadian citizens can vote in the election, provided they are at least 18 years old by Oct. 19. To see if you’re registered to vote, go to elections.ca/register or call Elections Canada at 1-800-463-6868.
