Four festivals in Burnaby are getting a boost from the city coffers.
City council approved grants for the small scale events at Monday night's council meeting.
The Nordic Spirit Heritage Festival: The Lives They Left Behind is put on by the Scandinavian Cultural Society, which was awarded $4,260 towards the event. The festival scheduled for March 30 to April 1.
The Art of Being Together festival, put on by L'Arche Foundation of Greater Vancouver, was granted $8,000. The event is scheduled for March 10.
Black History Month, put on by the National Congress of Black Women Foundation, was granted $7,000 for events throughout the month of February.
The African Soccer and Cultural Festival, put on by the African Canadian Soccer and Cultural Association, was granted $2,000. The festival is scheduled for Aug. 11 and 12.
