It was a summer of celebration in Burnaby, with a variety of festivals taking place in neighbourhoods throughout the city.
And at least two city festivals are already receiving grants for next year's celebrations.
The 19th Annual Soccer and Cultural Festival, being held by the African Canadian Soccer and Cultural Association next August, had a $7,000 festival grant approved by Burnaby council at Monday night's meeting.
The Scandinavian Midsummer Festival, being held by the Scandinavian Community Centre next June, had a $6,000 festival grant approved, as well.
