Hop back to the Jurassic age this Easter

Metro Vancouver's many treats-makers are whipping up some Easter magic these days, whether it's something for you to stash from "the Bunny," something sweet to share as a family, or send to a loved one you aren't able to meet up with.

This year, Easter Sunday falls on April 4, so better hop to it before many of these egg-cellent goodies are sold out! We've rounded up a few delicious options to help you fill your baskets.

Beaucoup Bakery

If Easter 2020 feels like it was a hundred years ago, may as well mark 2021 with a prehistoric vibe! Step back into the Jurassic era with the Fir Street bakeshop's dinosaur chocolate eggs, dinosaur-shaped chocolate, a T-Rex-Misu, and hot cross lava buns. Other items include classic brunch items, including croissants, hot cross buns, and a new breakfast bun. Beaucoup’s Easter Chocolates Collection features dinosaur eggs in two sizes; the smaller one is vegan, while the bigger one is an egg filled with mini-dino chocolates. The T-rex-misu is Beaucoup’s version of the tiramisu, composed of a banana caramel and compote, coffee mascarpone cream, blondie and brownie pieces, and housemade ladyfingers soaked in coffee and rum. The dessert comes with a dark chocolate dinosaur, cornflakes, chocolate cocoa nibs, and crispy pearls. Guests can pre-order the entire collection online for pick-up via its website or walk-in for limited quantities at the bakery daily.

This Easter, Buttermere Patisserie is joining in on spreading fun and joy with out-of-this-world Easter Egg treats that can be enjoyed by both adults and children alike. They're offering three variations of a 7-inch tall egg-shaped chocolate shell filled with assorted confections known as dragées. These interactive Easter egg treats come in distinct shell hues and flavours: the Pastel Splash Egg, the Pearl Egg, and the Metallic Egg. Hidden within each chocolate shell are in-house crafted dragées meant to resemble colourful miniature eggs. Dragées are sweet bites, typically nuts and freeze-dried fruits coated with chocolate or sweet confections to create an outer shell. At $52 per Egg, each packaged Egg comes with a miniature hammer for a playful reveal. Limited quantities are available from now through April 5; pre-order until April 1 or walk-in purchase at Buttermere Café (636 Main Street) during regular business hours.
