Fire crews use Jaws at Burnaby accident

It took the Jaws of Life to rescue the male driver of a Mazda Protégé involved in a two-vehicle accident in Burnaby on Saturday evening. Shortly after 8 p.m.

On Saturday night, the Burnaby Fire Department had to cut off the roof of a Mazda Protégé to reach its driver after the vehicle collided with a truck in the intersection of Canada Way and Edmonds Street.

It took the Jaws of Life to rescue the male driver of a Mazda Protégé involved in a two-vehicle accident in Burnaby on Saturday evening.

Shortly after 8 p.m., members of the Burnaby Fire Department responded to the intersection of Canada Way and Edmonds Street, where a collision with a Ford truck caused considerable damage to the Mazda’s right side. Firefighters extricated the Mazda driver and remained on scene for about 55 minutes.

The Mazda driver was transported to hospital by B.C. Ambulance Service while the driver of the truck did not require medical treatment in hospital, according to the report.
