The Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society presented the sixth annual SHINE Gala Thursday evening at the Vancouver Convention centre, which raised $280,000 for Royal Columbian Hospital.
As title sponsor - a position they've held for more than three years - the Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society donated $40,000 to the event, said Shannon Henderson of the RCH Foundation.
More than 400 guests turned out for the event, including several patients and RCH staff members who were there to share their experiences at the hospital.
"It is amazing to see what we can accomplish together," said Adrienne Bakker, foundation president and CEO, in a press release. "I know we can rely on the staff at Royal Columbian to give of their best, and they know we can rely on you to support them."
Minister of Health Dr. Margaret MacDiarmid also attended the event.
