A new COVID-19 outbreak has been declared in Burnaby, which now makes the fourth announced in the past week.
A resident at George Derby Centre in Burnaby has tested positive for the virus, according to Fraser Health.
“Enhanced control measures have been put in place at each site. Fraser Health is working with staff to identify anyone who may have been exposed and is taking steps to protect the health of all staff, residents and families,” said a Fraser Health news release.
Earlier in the week, Fraser Health declared two new COVID-19 outbreaks in Burnaby, while announcing the end of another, plus multiple cases at Burnaby Hospital. A resident at Finnish Manor and two staff members at Dania Home have tested positive for COVID-19. Fraser Health has declared outbreaks at these locations, and a rapid response team is at each site. The resident and two staff members are currently in self-isolation at their homes.
Finnish Manor is a long term care facility in Burnaby that is owned and operated by Jubilee Multi-Generational Housing Society. Dania Home is a long-term care facility in Burnaby that is owned and operated by Dania Home Society.
An outbreak at St. Michael’s Centre is now over.

This comes as the Burnaby health delivery area has reported 587 cases of COVID-19 in the past week, a 48.7% increase over the previous week.
