Fraser Health has declared one Burnaby COVID-19 outbreak over but a second is still active.
The outbreak at Fair Haven Homes Burnaby Lodge in Burnaby is now over. Fair Haven Homes Burnaby Lodge is a long-term care facility in Burnaby that is owned and operated by Fair Haven Homes Society.
But the outbreak at Burnaby’s Fellburn Care Centre on Hastings Street is still active.
"There have been six new health-care facility outbreaks: at Suncreek Village, Fort Langley Seniors Community, Northcrest Care Centre, Fellburn Care Center - PATH unit, Ridge Meadows Hospital and Langley Memorial Hospital," provincial health officer Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said in a joint statement on Friday.
"The outbreak at Fair Haven Homes Burnaby Lodge has been declared over."
Two residents at Fort Langley Seniors Community, one resident at Northcrest Care Centre, and one staff member at Suncreek Village have tested positive for COVID-19. Fraser Health has declared outbreaks at these locations, and a rapid response team is at each site. Communication with residents and families is underway. The three residents and one staff member are currently in self-isolation at their homes.
“Enhanced control measures have been put in place at each site,” said a news release. “Fraser Health is working with staff to identify anyone who may have been exposed and is taking steps to protect the health of all staff, residents and families.”
