There is plenty of family fun in the city this weekend. We're continuing our staff's Top 5 (Or More) Things To Do This Weekend, and for this issue, we have some lovely ways to while away the days, including shopping, fun fairs and more.
1 Get out for some family fun on Friday at Ãcole Sperling Elementary's Fun Fair fundraiser, from 4 to 8 p.m. at 2200 Sperling Ave. The fair includes pony rides, a Velcro wall, dunk tank, face painting, carnival games, food, entertainment and much more. There will also be a silent auction with some fantastic items, including a flight to Vancouver Island. Money raised goes to a new playground for the school, and organizers have set a fundraising goal of $25,000.
2 Get even more family fun on Friday night with the Gilmore Community School's annual country carnival at 50 S. Gilmore Ave. on from 4 to 9 p.m. There will be a barbecue, lemonade, an obstacle course, a super slide, a bouncy castle, a bungee run, pony rides and more, including entertainment and a prize raffle.
3 Get eating at the Buckingham Elementary School Family Fun Night, from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday at 6066 Buckingham Dr. Come enjoy this free event boasting some tasty food trucks including the ever-popular Japadog. Loving Hut Express will also be there, for any vegans looking for a treat.
4 Get hunting at the Nelson Avenue Community Church garage sale and fair at 5825 Nelson Ave. on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There'll be a concession, games, face painting, story-telling and of course, things to buy.
5 Get collecting at the West Coast Pin Collectors show hosted by the Pacific Pin Club. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3: 30 p.m. Sunday, May 26 at Capital Hill Community Hall, 361 South Howard Ave. There will be a huge variety of lapel pins to buy, sell or trade, including Olympic pins, Expo pins, NFL pins and NHL pins too.
