A fundraiser to help a family get back on their feet, following a house fire, is set for later this month.

In late July, the Brusciano family lost everything in a house fire that completely destroyed their Burnaby home, but friends have continued to rally around them in an effort to help them get back on their feet.

A trust account was set up last month to accept donations, and, on Sept. 24, the group will host a fundraiser at Clancy's in the Royal Towers, 140 Sixth St., starting at 5 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $15, which includes a burger, fries or salad, and a highball or glass of draft beer or wine. There are also going to be door prizes, games and possibly a poker or pool tournament.

Family friend Rose Downey says the family is still "couch surfing" - staying with friends and family in both Burnaby and North Delta - while they try to find a new place to live.

Mom Angella Brusciano and her three teens - a 15year-old son and twin 19-year-old young women - lost their Sperling Avenue home on July 28; Brusciano suffered burns to her arms, hands and legs and was in the hospital for a period after the fire.

Tickets for the event can be purchased by calling 604603-7587.

The trust account is also still open for anyone interested in making a donation, at Scotiabank, account number 50450-00437-88.
