Council approved funding for seven elementary schools from the community school program.
Edmonds, Gilmore, Lochdale, Maywood, Second Street, Stride Avenue and Stoney Creek community schools received an equal share of $399,597.
Council deferred the costs of $57,085 in funding requested for Byrne Creek Secondary School, for now. Staff will prepare a report about the benefits of expanding the community school model to include a secondary school, according to Dave Ellenwood, director of parks, recreation and cultural services.
