Garth Evans is running for Burnaby city council with TEAM Burnaby:

Garth Evans lives in North Burnaby and is a lawyer practicing real estate law for 30-plus years. He was a Burnaby city councillor from 2005 to 2008. He was awarded the Canadian Medal of Bravery. He is a member of the B.C. Degree Quality Assessment Board, which advises the minister respecting the granting of new university degrees. He is a member of the B.C. Medical Association's environmental health committee and chair of its water quality subcommittee. He speaks for the BCMA respecting drinking water and waste-water issues. He is a member of the Canada-Korea Business Association, an advisor to the Canada-China Business Association, and a director of L'Arche Greater Vancouver, which provides care and assistance to disadvantaged people in Burnaby.

Burnaby desperately needs a homeless shelter and Garth Evans will work to ensure one is built. Property taxes have been rising at an unacceptable rate. Garth Evans will work to ensure that tax increase do not exceed the rate of inflation. Orderly high-density development should be permitted in existing high-density areas only after plans are in place to expand the infrastructure to provide the necessary services to the new development and after affected residents have had the opportunity to express their views at public hearings. Burnaby needs a strong opposition to provide effective criticism and oversight. Garth Evans is experienced and trustworthy and will bring those attributes to Burnaby city council.
