Gas line work in Burnaby shifts east with a new road closure

FortisBC has updated work on its massive gas line upgrades through Burnaby and Coquitlam. Broadway reopened for traffic between Arden Avenue and Phillips Place this week , as the gas line upgrades continue to progress.

FortisBC has updated work on its massive gas line upgrades through Burnaby and Coquitlam.

Broadway reopened for traffic between Arden Avenue and Phillips Place this week, as the gas line upgrades continue to progress.

Construction isnow underway between Arden and Underhill avenues on Broadway, meaning the road is closed to traffic with local and emergency access maintained.

Arden Avenue also reopened for north-south traffic at the Broadway intersectionthis week.

“We want to thank the community for its patience and understating as we complete construction on our FortisBC Gas Line Upgrades project in 2019,” said a news release.

In Coquitlam, work started at two new sections along Como Lake Avenue in Coquitlam this week, including: between Schoolhouse and Poirier streets on Wednesday, May 8, with one eastbound and one westbound lane kept open throughout construction; and at the Clarke Road intersection on Friday, May 10, with one eastbound and one westbound lane kept open; this work will not affect traffic travelling north or south on Clarke Road.
