We're officially in the dog days of summer, and with only three weekends left before the kids head back to school and work ramps up for adults again, it's time to get outside and experience the best that Burnaby has to offer.

2 Get watching the Great Zucchini Races at the Burnaby Farmers Market at noon on Saturday, Aug. 18 in the Burnaby city hall parking lot. Spectators are welcome to watch these "vehicles" made completely out of vegetables run down an incline on four wheels.
Those who'd like to compete can bring their racer assembled or they can make it at the popular farmers' market.

3 Get viewing The Lorax on Friday, August 17 as part of the Screen on the Green Outdoor Movie Night at SFU.
This familyfriendly event at the meadow at SFU, in the space at Gaglardi Way and South Campus Road, just south of the Maggie Benston Centre, is a free movie showing which starts at sundown. For more info, email info@ univercity.ca.
4 Get registered for an old-fashioned ice cream making class at the Burnaby Village Museum on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 10 to 11: 30 a.m. To register, call 604-297-4565. For more information, go to www. burnabyvillagemuseum.ca. Cost is $10 per person.
5 Get eating at Burnaby's newest and trendiest restaurant. Cotto Enoteca Pizzeria opened on July 30 at 6011 Hastings St. and has already had rave reviews from local diners.
