Go by Bike Week is back in Richmond from Oct. 3 to Oct. 9.

The Fall Go by Bike Week is back in Richmond and HUB Cycling is encouraging Richmondites to get out and ride their bikes "anywhere and everywhere."

This time, HUB Cycling is hoping to convince participants that cycling doesn't have to stop now that summer is over. The four biggest reasons to cycle year-round, according to HUB Cycling, are that it's sustainable and eco-friendly; cost-efficient amid rising fuel prices; good for improving physical and mental well-being; and it shows elected officials the need for safe cycling infrastructure.

As usual, participants in Go by Bike Week can log their bike trips online to track their kilometers and greenhouse gas emission savings. They will also get a chance to win $10,000 worth of prizes, such as a cycling adventure for two in Italy sponsored by Exodus Travels.

To get Richmondites started, a pop-up "celebration station" was set up at the Canada Line Bikeway at River Dr. on Monday, with the next one coming on Friday at Richmond Hospital.

Visitors will get to enjoy a 10-minute free basic bike maintenance, free snacks and cycling resources and participate in the raffle.

The Richmond Hospital celebration station is sponsored by Vancouver Coastal Health and it will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. The Fall Go by Bike Week is happening from Oct. 3 to Oct. 9, 2022.
