New facility fees

Council approved three new rates in time for the opening of the new Edmonds Community Centre.

The four new rates are for active studio allotment, gymnasium allotment, adult sport and a table tennis fee.

There will also be a 2.5 per cent increase to many services such as swimming lessons, preschool programs, outdoor sports facilities, arenas programs and arena allotments.

Some fees will not change. But council noted rates are actually going down 2.5 per cent with the elimination of the HST.

The fees are increasing based on inflationary projections made by city staff.

Burnaby council approved $750,750 worth of capital projects to fund parks, recreation and cultural services, at its April 22 council meeting.

The funds will be split amongst Burnaby Village Museum, the administration office, Hilda Park, Maple Grove Park and the graffiti wrap program.
