Burnaby's Hats Off Day has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. It draws tens of thousands each year.

Hollywood is coming to the Heights this summer.

This year, the Heights Merchants Association will celebrate the 31st Hats Off Day with a tribute to the silver screen, a media released announced Thursday.

The annual parade and community street festival, which takes place on June 6 this year, will feature all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, according to the release.

“With 60,000 visitors expected in 2015, the Heights merchants want to make this year more dramatic and action-packed than ever before,” the release stated.

Hats Off Day, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2014, is a jam-packed day of events, with food, entertainment, giveaways and displays from local community groups and businesses.

Merchants and community groups interested in taking part in the parade or street festival are asked to complete an application form, available on the Heights Merchants Association website or at www.hatsoffday.com.

Applications to be part of the parade are due by April 10 and the deadline for displays is May 1.
