The Burnaby Task Force on Homelessness is teaming up with a local business to help people sleeping on the streets.

On June 21, Burnaby's Quilts Etc. and the task force are launching 10,000 Dreams, a campaign donating 10,000 pillows to charitable organizations across Canada.

"The dream is that together, we as a community can bring ideas that formulate in our communities into action, reaching out to and connecting with others to make a difference," said Elyshia Eng, Quilts Etc.'s campaign coordinator, in a press release.

Quilts Etc. is a Burnaby-based bedding manufacturer with retail stores across the country, and each store is teaming up with a charity in their community. Eng said the company is donating 100 to 200 pillows and duvets to the Burnaby Task Force on Homelessness.

"Burnaby, like all cities in the Lower Mainland, has an increasing number of people who are living in extreme poverty and homelessness," said the task force's Wanda Mulholland. "The task force believes that by working together with three levels of government, social service agencies, business, faith communities and concerned citizens, we can ensure the provision of necessary housing and services for Burnaby citizens."

The task force is also asking the public to drop off donations at Metropolis at Metrotown, from June 15 to 21. There will be a bin in atrium court, which is the same location the task force and Quilts Etc. will officially launch the 10,000 Dreams campaign on June 21 at 2 p.m.

The Burnaby donations will go to the Progressive Housing Society, which is a member of the task force. The society will distribute the pillows and duvets directly to Burnaby's homeless.

According to Mulholland, Quilts Etc. approached the task force because of a story that ran in the Burnaby NOW on a previous donation drive to help the homeless.
