Spring is roughly a month away, which means registration for Burnaby seasonal programming will soon be open.

And local residents will get first crack at signing up for recreation and arts classes before the general public.

In a release, the city states Burnaby residents will be able to register on the following dates ahead of the March 8, 10 a.m. general opening:

  • March 4, 10 a.m. = Recreation activities, including general summer camps
  • March 5, 10 a.m. = Arts and heritage activities, including summer camps

As well, those interested in signing up for swimming lessons can do so on March 14 at 10 a.m. — one day ahead of public registration on March 15, also at 10 a.m.

"Families are reminded that children can only be registered in 1 set of swim lessons at a time," said Burnaby city spokesperson Cole Wagner.

"You can register your child for the next set of lessons only after the completion of the lesson set they are currently registered in. Your child may be withdrawn from a swimming lesson if registered in more than 1 lesson set per season."

Burnaby families who are unsure of their child's current swim level placement are encouraged to check the latest report card or call their local recreation facility before the registration dates.

Details about all the available activities, along with schedules and fees, are available in Burnaby's online spring activity guide.

Notable activities include kayaking, tennis, badminton, hip hop dance, origami and yoga.

Residents can also archive their favourites to prepare for registration. For more information, you can visit the City of Burnaby's WebReg page.
