Was there a time when we thought we would see gas for less than 200.0 a litre and consider it cheap?
Well, that time is now.
After a refinery in Washington state recently completed some maintenance work, prices across the region have seen a dramatic and "historic" drop of at least 35 cents or more in one week.
Gas Wizard analyst Dan McTeague said gasoline prices are now falling because the Phillips 66 refinery in Ferndale, Wash., has restarted production after scheduled maintenance.
The arrival of gasoline cargo from Italy is further bringing Metro Vancouver urban areas closer in line with other jurisdictions across North America’s West Coast.
"The shortage is therefore over and new prices reflect that," said McTeague.
As of this publication (Oct. 14), Burnaby currently has two stations that are less than $2 per litre: Shell on 6511 Hastings St. and Chevron located at 6751 Lougheed Hwy.
