If you were planning to go on a long drive this long weekend, prepare to stretch your wallets.
Burnaby drivers are forced to feel the pinch as gas prices shot to $2.149 per litre on Wednesday, Sept. 27.
Why? A tropical storm that has led to oil refinery issues in southern California can be a part of the problem, said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
With that said, is there a relief in sight for drivers in Burnaby and the rest of West Coast?
Da Haan expects prices will fall "below $2 per litre by mid to late October," but prices should ease sometime over the weekend.
The average in Metro Vancouver now stands at $2.134 per litre as of 9:30 a.m. today, Sept. 29.
Burnaby fuel stations are offering an average of $2.126 per litre.
The cheapest gas in the province is the Costco in Kamloops at $1.649 per litre, as well as the Super Save Gas pump in Prince George (also standing at the same price).
