The clocks are moving up this weekend — and so are Burnaby gas prices.
GasBuddy.com's latest report shows $1.84 per litre as the cheapest price for fuel in the city, as of this publication, March 8, located the Smart Gas along Canada Way (see list below)
That's a bump of four cents compared to the $1.80 per litre offered last Friday, March 1.
However, the new threshold is the second least expensive gas in all of Metro Vancouver behind $1.83 per litre at the Fraser Highway Petro-Canada in Surrey.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, recently told Glacier Media while he can't provide predictions on the "micro-timing of gas price increases in Canada," costs are going to climb.
He noted that refinery maintenance typically happens during "shoulder seasons" and can slow down production.
"Broadly, we believe that gas prices are beginning their seasonal rise as refinery maintenance and the transition to summer gasoline come into play."
The average price for fuel in Burnaby is currently $1.87 per litre — up two cents from $1.85 last Friday.
Meanwhile, the most affordable gas prices in B.C. can be found in the north central and Okanagan regions.
Salmon Arm's Super Save Gas (50 3rd St. NW) is selling fuel for $1.55 per litre — located nearly 450 km northeast of Burnaby.
