Gas prices are still on the rise in Burnaby, but the city's cheapest available went unchanged for a second consecutive week.
And this time, it's at a different location.
The Super Save Gas along 6th Street is offering $1.84 per litre, as of this publication, March 15, according to GasBuddy.com's latest report (see list below) — a one cent dip from last week.
That's also the second least expensive price for fuel in all of Metro Vancouver behind $1.82 per litre at the Lougheed Highway Husky in Port Coquitlam.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, recently told Glacier Media that refineries are in their "shoulder seasons" and are undergoing maintenance.
This can slow down production, he explained, leading to an uptick in local fuel prices.
"Broadly, we believe that gas prices are beginning their seasonal rise as refinery maintenance and the transition to summer gasoline come into play."
The average price for fuel in Burnaby has gone up four cents to $1.91 from $1.87 per litre last Friday, March 8.
Meanwhile, Salmon Arm residents are relishing the fact that the Okanagan city — located nearly 450 km northeast of Burnaby — is home to the most affordable gas in the province.
Its Super Save Gas (50 3rd St. NW) dropped three cents in the last seven days to $1.52 per litre. The CO-OP on 10th Avenue NE has posted $1.54 per litre.
