Jeff Cote has two simple messages for people.

One is for hikers and mountain bikers to all take better care of the trails on Burnaby Mountain.

The second is for the City of Burnaby to fix these issues faster.

Cote sent photos to the NOW of broken signs and damage done to small wood bridges that cross sections of Burnaby Mountain.

“As a taxpayer and resident, I am concerned about the condition of Burnaby Mountain,” he said. “Over the past two to three years, I have noticed a major decline in the maintenance not being done on the trail system. While walking multiple trails on the weekend I noticed some major damage.”
Cote said the trails being damaged are:

  • Mels
  • Sidewinder
  • Lower  Snake
  • Gear Jammer
  • Uppercut

“On these trails I noticed damaged city signs, plugged culverts and a rotten boardwalk,” Cote said.

He’s hoping that his simple message will spur more people into action.
