Hit-and-run leaves cyclist on highway

Burnaby RCMP are looking for a dark coloured SUV involved in a Monday night hit-and-run that left a cyclist in the hospital. According to the RCMP, a small SUV was travelling eastbound on Lougheed Highway near Sperling Avenue, shortly after 11 p.m.

According to the RCMP, a small SUV was travelling eastbound on Lougheed Highway near Sperling Avenue, shortly after 11 p.m. on Monday, May 7. A witness reported that the SUV made a sudden movement, presumably to avoid a collision, and then the witness saw a person thrown through the air. The SUV reportedly stopped but sped away from the scene.

The victim is recovering in hospital, but police are not releasing his or her name. Police are now searching for a dark-coloured 2002 to 2006 Honda CRV.
