New traffic signals at Dawson Street and Madison Avenue are one of eight road improvements across Burnaby funded by ICBC's safer roads program.
In 2012, the Insurance Corporation of B.C. partnered with the City of Burnaby on a $75,000 project along Lougheed Highway, according to a press release from the Crown corporation. As part of the project, sidewalks and street lighting were installed between Douglas Road and Sperling Avenue.
Other projects completed in 2012 included a crosswalk in the 4300-block of Still Creek Drive; left turn lanes and phased signals at Rumble Street and McPherson Avenue; and an upgraded crosswalk with pedestrian controls at Edmonds Street and Linden Avenue.
