Burnaby South MP Jagmeet Singh and his wife Gurkiran Kaur have announced the birth of their baby daughter.

Burnaby South MP Jagmeet Singh and his wife Gurkiran Kaur are the happy parents of an adorable baby girl.

Singh made the announcement this morning (Jan. 6) via his Twitter account, posting a photo of him, Kaur and their newborn.

It's the Singhs' first child, who has yet to be named.

"@gurkirankaur_ and I want to let you know that we welcomed the newest addition to our family on January 3rd, 2022," Singh wrote.

"Our powerful little baby girl is basically my birthday present [Singh's birthday is January 2] for life lol.

"Momma bear and baby are healthy and our hearts are filled with gratitude."

The couple married in February 2018.

They announced in August — shortly before Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the snap-federal election call — they were expecting their first child.

Trudeau, Conservative leader Erin O'Toole and other political officials congratulated Singh and his wife on their daughter's birth.
