Jr. Lakers stiffed on awards

The Burnaby Lakers were the only team without a mention when the B.C. Junior Lacrosse League awards were announced on Monday.

The Burnaby Lakers were the only team without a mention when the B.C. Junior Lacrosse League awards were announced on Monday.

Reegan Comeault of the Langley Thunder was a somewhat surprising pick for MVP, beating out a trio of Coquitlam Adanacs who surpassed the century mark in scoring this season, including 18-year-old Wesley Berg, who topped all scorers with 60 goals, including 12 hat tricks, and 114 total points.

Berg garnered the three-star and outstanding achievement awards, while also earning a spot on the first all-star team along with A's teammate and defender of the year Jeff Cornwall.

Also named to the first team were Comeault, Mike Mallory of Delta, New Westminster's Tyler Digby and top goalie Frankie Scigliano.
