Football fans will tell you it's the best weekend of the year, as the end of the NFL season culminates in the granddaddy of all sporting and entertainment spectacles. Some of the best local places in Burnaby to see the game include some of the nine restaurants doing the final day of Dine Out Vancouver. Whether it's Reflect at the Hilton by Metrotown, Tivoli's in North Burnaby, the Riverway Clubhouse in South Burnaby or EBO at the Delta by Highway One, there's a great football game to watch and some great food deals to be had at the same time.
3 Get supporting the Grandview Steelers on Sunday, Feb. 3 as they host the Aldergrove Kodiaks at the Burnaby Winter Club at 1 p.m. The Steelers need every point they can muster up as they try to catch the North Vancouver Wolfpack for the final playoff spot in the Tom Shaw junior hockey conference. The game has been moved up to accommodate the Super Bowl.
4 Get cheering some of the best high school girls in the region as Burnaby South hosts its senior girls basketball tournament on Friday, Feb. 1 with the opening games and then the championship and seeding matches on Saturday, Feb. 2. The Burnaby South Rebels are led by seniors Manpreet Nijjar and Pavneet Brar and the Rebels play Guildford Park at 3 p.m. on Friday in gym 2 at the school. The championship game is at 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
5 Get celebrating the career of Burnaby Joe at Joe Sakic Night at 7: 30 p.m. at the Pacific Coliseum on Friday, Feb. 1. The Vancouver Giants host the Kelowna Rockets, and while the game is always a treat for hockey fans, the highlight will be the appearance of Hockey Hall of Famer Joe Sakic, who will be honoured as one of the Legends of Renfrew Street.
