Kinder Morgan is hosting a meeting for Burnaby residents in early April on corridor "optimization" for the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.
The meeting is to provide information and collect feedback from residents on the corridor, which is a large path of land the company is considering for the new pipeline route.
"I think people were expecting in the application there would be a finalized right-of-way, but the process is we apply to the NEB, ... and it won't be until much later in the process that the final route is determined," said Ali Hounsell, project spokesperson.
One of the meeting's goals is to explain the routing process to people and collect more feedback. There will be people on site to answer questions.
Kinder Morgan's pipeline expansion proposal would nearly triple the line's capacity, from 300,000 barrels of oil a day to 890,000. The company is looking at new routes through Burnaby, although it's not clear where, exactly, the pipeline would go.
"We're obligated to refine and optimize the route," Hounsell said. "We're looking for people's feedback and input on the proposed and the alternative."
The April 3 Burnaby meeting is one of three; there are also meetings in Langley and Chilliwack.
The meeting will be on Thursday, April 3, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Executive Plaza at 405 North Rd., Coquitlam. People can also view the meeting materials online after the event by going to http://talktransmountain.com.
