La Foret's second Burnaby location will open on April 10 and will serve as the bakery’s headquarters and main production facility.

Exciting news for coffee and waffle lovers in Burnaby — a favourite local cafe just announced details of its soon-to-open second location.

The forest is growing — La Foret Bakery & Cafe has announced on Instagram that it will finally be opening its doors to its second venue on April 10.

The new facility, which will be located at 6958 Palm Ave. in Burnaby, is just steps away from the Royal Oak SkyTrain station, and will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

While the second Palm Avenue location will have a cozy cafe area featuring some unique Korean-style sandwiches, donuts, pastries and desserts that you won’t see at the first location, seating will be available only in the summer, and the location will focus on providing takeouts and delivery.

Plans are in motion to set out patios in the summer where patrons can enjoy their house-made ice cream.

The new location, 11 minutes' walking distance away from its original location, will primarily serve as the bakery’s headquarters and main production facility as the business expands. In La Foret’s post, a new sit-down cafe has been teased, although the neighbourhood has not been revealed.

In addition to a production bakery-like setting at the facility, the local business also hopes to kick-start a new endeavour — a wholesale and catering service.

Update: This story has been updated to reflect a revised opening date from April 3 to April 10. La Foret management has told the NOW that the cafe will open its doors a week later due to unforeseen internal circumstances."
