The edges of the backyards of several homeowners in south Burnaby were wiped away Thursday due to the heavy rains that swamped Metro Vancouver.
Now they are wondering what happens next.
Martin Que lives next to Gray Creek Ravine in the 8000 block of Gray Avenue – bordering a City of Burnaby park. He woke up Friday morning to find part of his backyard looks more like a cliff due to the storm. The property sits high above the creek.
Most of his backyard is still intact, but he wonders what’s going to happen if another rainstorm his soon.

“I’m worried about my backyard,” said Que, who has lived in the home for the past 15 years. “We’ve never had anything like this happen before.”
Que’s neighbour’s home is worse off. City engineering staff have put up orange cones on the property next to Que as they start their investigation into how to fix the problem and who is liable for the work.
