Lee set to run

Richard Lee after fourth term as Liberal candidate in North Burnaby

Richard Lee is seeking the Liberal nomination for a fourth term in Burnaby North for the 2013 provincial election.

Lee was voted in during the 2001 Liberal landslide and has held the Burnaby North seat ever since.

Lee is also the Parliamentary Secretary for Asia-Pacific, and he co-chairs the Burnaby Hospital community consultation committee.

"I am focused on representing my constituents here in Burnaby North. Come election time, I think British Columbians will look at our record in government and recognize that they're much better off now than they were in 2001," Lee said in a press release. "People are concerned about pocketbook issues - taxes, spending, the economy - and our record on those issues is strong."

Lee's main competition is NDP candidate Janet Routledge, one of the main organizers in the local anti-HST campaign. Lee is one of two Liberal politicians in Burnaby; the other is Burnaby-Lougheed's Harry Bloy, who will not be running again after a series of gaffes.

The Liberals do not have anyone to run in Bloy's place yet, and the NDP constituency association for Burnaby-Lougheed hasn't picked a candidate either but will in midOctober.

The next provincial election in scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, 2013. To register to vote, or update your registration information, go to www.elections. bc.ca.
