Burnaby council has approved plans for a Remembrance Day parade in Burnaby Heights.
The request, put forth by Legion No. 148, was approved at Monday night's council meeting.
The parade is slated to start from the underground parking lot at the Safeway in 4400-block of Hastings Street at 10 a.m., heading east, and then north on Alpha Avenue into Confederation Park towards the Cenotaph, according to a report to council.
The ceremony at the Cenotaph begins at 11 a.m., after which the parade will return along its route on Hastings Street, all the way to Legion.
VOLUNTEER BURNABY GETS A HAND FROM CITY
City council has approved four community grants for sports and nonprofit groups in Burnaby.
Councillors gave the OK to the grants at Monday night's meeting.
Volunteer Burnaby received the biggest grant, at $15,000, to help with the costs of programs and services.
Confederation Seniors Centre was granted $700 to help with the cost of photo archiving for its 40th anniversary.
Cliff Avenue U18 Synergy Girls Soccer Team was granted $1,000 to compete in the national championship in Fredericton, N.B. from Oct. 8 to 10.
The Burnaby Minor Lacrosse Association was granted $175 to help with Marcus Vela's travel expenses to compete in the nationals in Whitby, Ont, running from July 30 to Aug. 7.
